Chuck overcame challenges and found motivation as he struggled with dyslexia growing up.
Charles Schwab had struggled with reading all his life, but it was not until his early forties that he learned he was dyslexic. Although dyslexia had caused him difficult times in school, he always knew he was good at math. So he began working part-time for an investment firm and discovered his interest in investments and knack for investment research.
Like many leaders, Schwab needed time and experience to determine what motivated him. Eventually, he turned his passion for investments into building a company that would democratize the entire brokerage industry.
Schwab's motivations and capabilities finally came together when he was thirty-seven, and he founded Charles Schwab & Company.
